Torino expect Tottenham Hotspur to bid £35 million for Gleison Bremer
According to Sport Mediaset (h/t football.london), Torino are waiting for Tottenham to make a bid for centre-back Gleison Bremer. The Italian side expects Spurs to make an offer of £35million for the Brazilian.
Inter Milan are the other club in the race for the 25-year-old defender. The Nerazzurri have already agreed on personal terms with the centre-back, but Torino are holding out for a higher transfer fee.
Since both sides are yet to reach an agreement, the side from North London has an opening to make a bid for the 25-year-old defender. The Serie A defender of the year for the 2021/22 season, Bremer certainly has seen his stock rise in leaps and bounds.
Bremer would be a solid addition for Spurs
Bremer usually plays in the middle of the back three for Torino and commands the backline with ease. The Brazilian needed a year to establish himself in the Serie A after signing for the Bull in 2018. However, he has made a name for himself as a solid and reliable player in Italy.
Tottenham are currently in the market for a defender and the Brazilian fits the bill. Spurs already have had success signing a centre-back from the Italian league last season with Cristian Romero.
If Bremer does end up signing for Tottenham, fans would expect him to have the same impact our Argentinian rock had last season. Although out for long periods in the 2021/22 season due to injury, his quality shone whenever he stepped onto the pitch.
The Serie A is known for inculcating defensive qualities in players. So taking a chance at signing the Brazilian wouldn’t be a bad idea. Should it click, Spurs will be getting themselves another centre-back who can serve them for years to come.
Currently, Spurs’ defence consists of Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies as Conte’s first choice. However, other centre-back options have found it hard to win the Italian manager’s trust.
Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon have mostly found themselves out of the team. Thus, it becomes essential that the Lilywhites sign someone our boss trusts to start or bring on in games when needed.
