Transfer news: Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupinan
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in Villarreal’s Pervis Estupinan, according to Express. The left-back played his part to help Villarreal reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
He joined Villarreal in 2020 from Watford and was a key part of Unai Emery’s side as they won the Europa League that season. The Ecuadorian left-back never really got going at Watford after spending all his time on loan to clubs like Almeria, Mallorca and Osasuna.
Estupinan made a total of 41appearances for the Yellow Submarines in all competitions, assisting two goals. And now it seems he could be on his way to Tottenham.
He could become the second signing from La Liga for Tottenham who are also looking to secure a loan move for Barcelona man Clement Lenglet.
Signing to add depth
Antonio Conte has been revamping his Tottenham squad for next season. The Italian coach has already signed Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster. A potential fourth signing of Richarlison is also on the cards.
While the attack was ruthless last season and Conte has added more depth to it this summer, the delivery from the wing-backs was an issue. Conte would be aware of that as his side has been linked with a move for right-back Djed Spence.
Sergio Reguilon missed the last half of last season due to injury while Ben Davis is not getting any younger. Signing a left-back could become a priority for Spurs and Estupinan could help with that. Moreover, his move will also help to increase competition and also add depth to the squad.
The full-back has gained huge playing experience with Villarreal and that could help him secure a move to Tottenham. Conte meanwhile is preparing a squad in hopes of winning some silverware with the Lilywhites next season.
