Transfer news: Tottenham Hotspur could enter a bidding war to sign Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer
According to 90min(h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur could potentially enter into a bidding war for Torino star Gleison Bremer against Chelsea and Arsenal.
The report adds that Torino’s sporting director, Davide Vagnati, was heading to London in hopes of inciting a bidding war among the London clubs for the defender. Torino is said to be demanding £43 million for the centre-back but could see that figure rise.
Bremer has been on the rise ever since joining the Turin-based outfit from Brazilian side Clube Atletico Mineiro in 2018. He has been a key figure in their squad since his move and made 33 League appearances last season and scored three goals and assisted one more.
And now the Serie A defender of the year for 2021/22 could be on his way out with London being the most potential destination.
Worth the money?
It is no secret that Antonio Conte has been revamping his Spurs squad with hopes of winning a silverware with the Lilywhites next season. He has already signed Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster. A centre-back is needed and he has been in the market for one.
Spurs have been linked to Clement Lenglet and Josko Gvardiol. Conte needs to add some depth to his defence if he wishes to compete for multiple trophies like Liverpool and Manchester City. And Bremer could help solve that issue.
The Brazilian has been excellent at the back for Torino and could be a very good signing for Spurs. Serie A is known to produce quality defenders with Cristian Romero already showing his qualities at Spurs. The current preferred back three for Conte includes Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Romero.
Bremer would not only bring his experience to the table but also help in increasing the competition among defenders in the squad. Given that he is just 25-year-old, he could serve the Spurs backline for years to come.

However, securing his signature will be no easy task. Chelsea and Arsenal, both have been revamping their squad too and would like to have the defender in their team. Tottenham would have to be smart about their business to secure his signature.
Meanwhile, Spurs fans would love for the centre-back to sign for them as they could rub it on the other club fans. Conte could be happy to have such an experienced and talented figure in his team.
