Antonio Conte is full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min
Antonio Conte, talking to a club documentary (h/t Evening Standard), spoke about having a player like Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian manager praised the South Korean for his talent and commitment to the squad.
“For every manager, if you want to win, you need players of great talent.”
“Sonny impressed me for the commitment, for the attitude, for the behaviour – he is a really good guy.”
Conte highlights the 29-year-old’s attitude and positivity. The Italian talked about the importance of the Premier League Golden Boot winner to the team and called him a dream for any manager to have.
“But I think many people don’t know the man, the person that you find in Sonny. He always has a smile on his face.”
“For sure he is a positive person. He is an important player for Tottenham. Every manager dreams of having this type of talent in your hands.”
Son arrived at the North London club in 2015 and has developed into a key player over the years. The player has grown leaps and bounds in his time with the Lilywhites and won the Golden Boot last season.
In his debut season, Son had 13 goal contributions in 40 appearances for Spurs. In the previous campaign, the South Korean scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions. In 324 appearances for Tottenham, the 29-year-old has contributed to 204 goals.
Son has created a record-breaking partnership with Harry Kane, having the highest goal combinations between two players in the Premier League. With all the additions to the team over the years, the South Korean has always been a constant for every manager to take charge of the Lilywhites.
Son took his game to the next level last season. His goals against Manchester City, Leicester and Norwich from outside the box were especially remarkable. Two goals in the game against the Canaries on the final day of the season helped the 29-year-old share the top scorer berth with Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.
With a manager like Conte taking games by the scruff from the touchline, fans’ hopes in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium only multiply. The intensity of the Italian reverberates throughout the crowd and in turn, makes the players believe in themselves.
With the additions made to the squad this year, Spurs have a chance to create history with one of their best teams in recent years. The team has added more quality up front. Dejan Kulusevski arrived in January and spectators immediately saw the impact his quality brought to the team.
