Transfer News: Memphis Depay is not interested in moving to Tottenham Hotspur
Memphis Depay has seemingly aimed a dig at Tottenham Hotspur and it looks like the Dutchman is not interested in a move to North London this summer, according to SPORT (h/t Express).
The 28-year-old signed for Barcelona last summer and featured 37 times for the Blaugrana, scoring 13 goals. But by the end of the campaign, manager Xavi preferred other options over Depay and Barcelona now appears to be ready to part ways with the player.
With only one year left on his contract, the Dutch national’s time at the Camp Nou looks precarious. Both Arsenal and Spurs have registered an interest in securing his services this summer.
Depay wants Champions League football and that rules out our North London rivals. The 28-year-old also seemed to aim a dig at Tottenham by claiming he wants to win ‘important titles’.
While being available for £17 million, Depay would rather hedge his bets and fight for a place in the Catalan side. But first-team football is not a guarantee as Barcelona eye further additions in the attack.
Tottenham don’t need Depay
With the attacking options at Antonio Conte’s disposal, a move for Depay isn’t something the club should be worrying about. We have two of the best attackers in the world in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, capable of scoring more than 20 goals every season.
The additions made to the squad already have been quality. Dejan Kulusevski has already shown what he’s capable of. The Sweden international has gone off to an explosive start. The 22-year-old has delivered playing on the right up front.
The club have also gone out this summer and made further additions to the squad. Ivan Perisic is an experienced winger that has been signed for free. The Croatian has won many titles in his long career.
Tottenham targeted Everton striker Richarlison and successfully signed the Brazilian this summer. The 25-year-old has bundles of experience playing in the Premier League. He helped the Toffees avoid relegation last season, scoring 10 goals.

Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil are also still at the club and will ensure depth in the squad if they stay. With all of this in mind, Spurs don’t require any additional new faces up front for next season as fans feel we have enough firepower.
