Antonio Conte: Tottenham Hotspur to decide whether Pape Matar Sarr stays will be sent out on loan
Ahead of the pre-season friendly against Sevilla in South Korea, Antonio Conte spoke via football.london on Pape Matar Sarr and his Tottenham Hotspur future. The Italian stated that the club would take the “best decision” on the youngster’s future.
Signed from FC Metz in 2021, the Senegalese spent last season on loan in France. Breaking into the Maroons squad in 2020, the 19-year-old became a regular for the Ligue 1 side in the 2020/21 season.
Conte trusts the player to have the quality and potential to be a great player for the North London side. The Italian is convinced the club will make the “best decision” for the youngsters in the squad.
“About Sarr, he’s a young player. A good prospect. He will be the future for Tottenham. Together, with Sarr we also have other young players and we will try with the club to take the best decision for them.”
Tottenham fans know all about making the best decision for youngsters. Harry Kane broke into the team after multiple loan spells outside the club, gaining much-needed experience.
Now, Kane is one of the best players in the world. The striker is now fifth in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts. His loan spells need to be credited for his development.
Sarr is still 19 and has a big future ahead of him. Coming into English football can be a challenging prospect for the most experienced professionals. Conte knows the importance of deciding whether the Senegalese stays or goes out on loan.
“It can be very important to take the best decision about whether to stay in the squad, to stay at Tottenham or go out on loan and play with regularity every game and continue to improve.”
The Tottenham midfield is brimming with talent right now. Yves Bissouma was signed from Brighton earlier this summer. The Mali international has been one of the best holding midfielders in the league for the last couple of seasons.
Spurs already boasted a great pivot in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The former Saints star has been an essential part of the XI since signing in 2020. With new recruit Rodrigo Bentancur in the side, the duo have shored up the middle of the park.
