Richarlison throws a punch during his second match with Tottenham Hotspur
A video posted by @Thogden on Twitter (h/t Daily Express), shows Tottenham Hotspur new signing Richarlison throwing a punch during Spurs’ pre-season bust-up with Sevilla.
Tottenham and Sevilla drew 1-1 in South Korea earlier today, but the game was overshadowed by an altercation between the players of the two clubs at halftime.
After a scoreless first half, Tottenham’s Son Heung-min seemed to elbow Sevilla’s Gonzalo Montiel, but instead unintentionally injured the player. A heated argument broke out between several players from each side when the South Korean attacker was confronted by opposition players.
Following the incident with Son, which happened as the Argentine defender attempted to tackle Ryan Sessegnon but ended up running into the South Korean’s elbow, Montiel was spotted with blood on and around his lips.
After the incident, a bust-up happened and Spurs newcomer Richarlison was seen throwing a small punch in defence of his new teammate Son. Even though the video wasn’t clear whether the punch caught any of the Sevilla players, it might have sparked their anger.
Alejandro Gomez seemed to be the one who was probably on the receiving end of it.
Richarlison was participating in just his second game for Spurs when he decided to defend Son as the contest between Spurs and Sevilla threatened to erupt. Richarlison joined the club this summer in a £60 million deal from Everton.
The 25-year-old has a total of 53 goals and 14 assists in 152 games for Everton. Richarlison. He was among the few positives for Frank Lampard’s squad during the 2021–2022 season as they fought to stay in the Premier League until the final game week.
Richarlison has only recently joined Tottenham, but he has already shown his dedication to the club by standing up for teammate Son Heung-min amid a massive altercation between Spurs and Sevilla players during their preseason match in South Korea.

However, considering the high hopes from fans regarding Richarlison, the Brazilian has to be more careful while on the pitch. His departure mid-way in the match could be hugely problematic if he gets a red card repeating such an incident in the next season.
