Injury News: Raul Jimenez to miss Wolves’ Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur
According to the Telegraph (Subscription Required), Raul Jimenez could miss up to eight weeks of action for Wolverhampton Wanderers, including the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur, after a knee injury.
The Mexican striker overstretched for the ball in Wolves’ 3-0 win against Besiktas in a recent friendly. Jimenez is one of the most feared strikers in the league due to his considerable physical presence and finishing abilities.
This update effectively confirms that Jimenez will miss his team’s league clash against Spurs on 20th August. The Lilywhites play against Southampton and Chelsea before that fixture at N17.
Bruno Lage could play Hee-chan Hwang or Pedro Neto in the middle of his attack but it is unclear if Wanderers will scour the market for a specialist striker after this update. Jimenez’s importance to Wolves cannot be understated.
Big blow for Wolves
There is a reason they broke the bank for him back in 2019, signing him for a fee of £30million from SL Benfica. The Mexico international has had a decent time playing against our team.
In the six times he faced us during his career, Jimenez has won three and lost three, while scoring four goals and assisting a further two. The man who signed Jimenez at Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo, was, of course, our manager before Antonio Conte took over.
It remains to be seen who Wolves play instead of Jimenez in that position but this injury comes as a big blow for them at this point of the transfer window.

For Spurs, they have created a neat safety net by signing Richarlison in attack. On paper, we no longer have to count on Harry Kane to be fit for every week of next season.
