AC Milan in prime position to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Japhet Tanganga
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan) [h/t Football. London], Serie A giants AC Milan are in prime position to sign talented Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga.
The Englishman’s future has been the subject of speculation for quite some time now with him linked with a move away from Spurs this summer. AC Milan have emerged favourites in the race for the talented defender.
A product of the Tottenham academy, Tanganga made a name for himself under former manager Jose Mourinho who was really impressed with the promise the English defender showed at such a young age.
A talented defender who is equally comfortable playing at centre-back and right-back, Tanganga is defensively very astute whilst also being more than adequate in an attacking capability.
After a string of impressive performances and even establishing himself as a mainstay in the first team, Tanganga suffered an unfortunate injury upon Antonio Conte’s arrival and could not get a chance to impress the Italian tactician.
This eventually meant that there were other players who really settled into the team in Tanganga’s absence and eventually went on to become the preferred choice for Antonio Conte as things stand.
Whilst this season could be a chance for Tanganga to impress Conte, it has emerged that Spurs are open to selling him if the right offer comes and AC Milan are really interested in the talented defender.
Anyone who has seen Tanganga play will know that he has a high ceiling. He has all the qualities required to become an exceptional defender in the Premier League and could be a useful player if he stays.
