Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham block summer move for Bryan Gil despite Valencia agreement
Tottenham Hotspur have blocked a summer move for Bryan Gil despite the winger having an agreement in place with Valencia, according to Tribuna Deportiva (h/t the Express).
The 21-year-old winger has found playing time hard to come by under Antonio Conte since his transfer from Sevilla last summer. The Spaniard was allowed to join Valencia for the second half of last season.
There, he played 17 times for Los Che and was close to sealing another move there if it wasn’t for Spurs blocking the transfer. Gennaro Gattuso’s side are believed to have turned their attention elsewhere and are now watching Lille starlet Timothy Weah and Watford winger Ignacio Pussetto instead.
Gil was an unused substitute in both of our league games – against Southampton in a 4-1 win, and in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. However, it now seems like the club have a plan for him after all.
What next for Gil?
It’s not like the club is short on attackers. Richarlison Andrade’s addition has solidified our attack to a great extent while Lucas Moura and Gil are viable options.
Steven Bergwijn’s move to Ajax this summer has also freed up some space for the Spaniard. There is a long season up ahead of us and the north London-based outfit will compete in four competitions.
Conte, as much as he may want to do it, cannot start the same XI every weekend. Gil can make his impression and make a case for himself being the potential successor of Son-Heung min.
