Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur look to continue their summer spending spree as they line up a bid for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
This is according to an Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb (h/t Mirror), which claims that Spurs are planning a £38 million offer which could rise to £50.7 million with add-ons.
The report also claims that the north London club will be willing to pay £100,000 a week to the 27-year-old midfielder. This news comes amid Spur’s interest in another midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, who is said to be high on Fabio Paratici’s list.
Milinkovic-Savic joined Lazio in 2015 from KRC Genk. Since then, the 27-year-old Serbian international has established himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Italy.
Conte has rebuilt the squad this summer. Good new signings have been bought in and Conte is looking to add more. Yves Bissouma has been added to the midfield and Oliver Skipp will also likely make the squad once he recovers from his injury.
Adding Milinkovic-Savic to his midfield, Conte will be able to add experience, depth and competition to his squad. But he will neither come cheap nor easy. Manchester United are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
However, it is believed that the midfielder will choose Spurs over United as we can offer Champions League nights. A phenomenal and tall player in the middle of the park, the 27-year-old registered 11 goals and 11 assists for Lazio in the league last season.
