Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Valencia close to signing Bryan Gil but reject Harry Winks move

Bryan Gil is on his way to joining Valencia on a loan transfer but Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is not needed at the Mestalla, according to AS (h/t the Express).

The 21-year-old winger enjoyed a temporary spell with Los Che in the second half of last season. It seems Gennaro Gattuso wants the Spanish winger back at Valencia for added depth down the flanks.

He is expected to fly to Spain and finalise his transfer to the La Liga side in the coming days. However, Winks won’t be following suit.

The English midfielder is clearly not in Antonio Conte’s plans and hasn’t played a single minute of senior football this month. Valencia were linked with a move for him, but have now opted against signing him.

What next for Winks?

The 26-year-old midfielder was an important part of Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho’s midfield. However, he has clearly failed to find that same favour under the former Inter Milan manager.

Conte has tried to stamp his identity on the team by bringing in two central midfielders in back-to-back transfer windows. Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Juventus in January, and Yves Bissouma joined our ranks from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month.

Time is running out for both and Winks if the two want to part ways in the coming days. The transfer window closes on September 1.

More Tottenham News:

If the pattern continues, it is highly unlikely that Winks will feature in the weekend Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on August 28.
