Jurrien Timber admits he could leave Ajax next summer amidst Tottenham interest
Speaking to AD in an interview as quoted by HITC, talented Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has revealed that there is a plan to leave Ajax next summer and make the next big move amidst interest from Tottenham and Manchester United.
Both Premier League clubs along with Bayern Munich have been interested in signing the player this transfer window but Timber chose to commit at least one more season to the Eredivisie giants.
If Timber indeed decides to leave Ajax next summer, there is absolutely no doubt that many clubs in Europe will be keen on signing the talented youngster and Timber is expected to be hot property next transfer window.
A product of the very famous youth academy at Ajax, Timber is very highly rated and broke into the first team in 2020. He has been a standout player for Erik ten Hag during their time in Amsterdam.
Timber is versatile in defence. Although predominantly a centre-back, the 21-year-old also plays as a right-back. The Dutchman is extremely quick and has abilities on the ball that really makes him stand out.
After turning down the prospect of an exit from the Eredivisie giants this season, the talented defender has opened up about the plan for next season.
“Whether agreements have been made to make a transfer next year? That is the plan, so yes. But you never know how things will turn out eventually. But we’ve had good talks about that together with Ajax.”
In a season where Ajax saw themselves lose both Lisandro Martinez and Antony, the Dutch club will be very happy with the fact that they have managed to keep Jurrien Timber, at least for one more season.
However, it is only a matter of time before Timber makes the big move away from Amsterdam. If he becomes available, expect Tottenham to make a move for the Dutchman but they will almost definitely not be alone.
