Transfer News: Newcastle United and Aston Villa made a deadline day approach for Lucas Moura
Newcastle United and Aston Villa made a deadline day approach for Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura. This is according to Fabrizio Romano via Twitter.
The negotiations never went to the advanced stages and Spurs decided to keep the 30-year-old. However, the future of the player is still uncertain.
He has hardly played this season and came off the bench in the first two games. In the third, he remained unused and has also struggled with injuries.

Moura joined the north Londoners in January of 2018 from French side Paris Saint Germain. He was a regular when he arrived but has seen himself going down the pecking order for the past couple of seasons.
Under Antonio Conte, the Brazilian is way down the pecking order. Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Heung-min Son are all ahead of him in the pecking order. Conte’s arrival has seen the player largely consigned to the bench.
This season too things are very unlikely to change. Kulusevski is in very good form and Richarlison will only improve. The 30-year-old is likely to play most of the games by coming on from the bench.
But that does not mean he has no contribution to the team. He still helps in adding depth to the squad and is a very experienced player. The 30-year-old still has the ability to change games by coming on from the bench.
