Paul Robinson backs Heung-min Son to take free kicks at Tottenham Hotspur
Paul Robinson believes that Heung-min Son should be taking free kicks at Tottenham Hotspur.
This comes after the Korean scored a beautifully curved free-kick from the edge of the box for South Korea in a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica, last Friday.
And now the former Spurs goalkeeper believes that the 30-year-old should be the one the set-piece duty. Speaking to Football Insider, the former keeper gave his opinion.
“It is bizarre that he doesn’t. Yes, there is a lot of dead-ball specialists at Spurs but none of them are as prolific as Sonny. He has great quality. After his three goals last time out I would let him take a free-kick from anywhere.”
Harry Kane and Eric Dier are the usual free-kick takers at Spurs, but both have not enjoyed much success at the set-piece.
Son, got off to a very rough start this season. The forward struggled to find the back of the net for the first eight games he played this season in all competitions. This led to the Korean coming huge criticism for his form.
However, all such critics received a very befitting reply as the Korean scored a sensational hat-trick against Leicester City at home in the Premier League on September 17. Spurs ended up winning that game 6-2.
The forward has continued that form even on international duty. He has found the back of the net in both of the friendlies for his country against Costa Rica and Cameroon. His good form will make Antonio Conte very happy.

Robinson is not wrong in his assessment. The goal that Son scored was sensational and it won’t be surprising if he is also added to the roster for taking free kicks at Tottenham Hotspur.
