Richarlison racially abused during Brazil’s 5-1 win against Tunisia
In what was a disgusting event that occurred during the Brazil – Tunisia game last night which the Selecao won 5-1, Richarlison was seen being racially abused by the opposition fans when he was celebrating his side’s second goal near the corner flag.
The Tottenham striker who had a stupendous game with the Selecao last night despite playing just 45 minutes, had a banana thrown at him during his goal celebration which Manchester United midfielder Fred was seen kicking away.
The new Tottenham acquisition scored a goal and also provided an assist during his time out on the pitch in Brazilian colours as he put in yet another performance that went a long way in stamping his spot as the number nine for the World Cup.
However, despite the quality of football on display, it is the incident of racism against the former Evertonian man that hogged all the limelight for the wrong reasons and left everyone with a sour taste after the game.
The act of throwing a banana against a player is considered an act of racist abuse and has been severely condemned in the game of football for quite some time now. Any player being subjected to this is not acceptable.
The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) was quick to condemn the incident and put out a tweet after the Richarlison incident.
Richarlison is one of the biggest transfers that Spurs pulled off in the summer. The Brazilian star has really adapted well to life at Hotspur Way and has been an influential player for Antonio Conte.
Whilst he may not be a starter yet, Richarlison has done his chances absolutely no harm whenever given a chance off the bench. He even managed to break into the starting 11 a couple of times just before the international break.
A huge season is on the horizon for Richarlison. He has the World Cup in Qatar which he almost surely has a ticket to now, and he can also be one of Spurs’ most influential players as they look to challenge for trophies and end their drought.

Richarlison is a great footballer and he does not deserve the disrespect he suffered last night for doing his job. Despite continuous awareness, racism is still prevalent in our game and there is no way that it must be tolerated, whatsoever!
