Roberto De Zerbi thinks Antonio Conte can win the league with Tottenham Hotspur this season

Speaking in an interview ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Brighton in the Premier League today as quoted by the Athletic, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has claimed that he thinks Antonio Conte can win the Premier League with Spurs this season.

Tottenham take on Brighton at the Amex stadium today in what promises to be a very exciting clash. Both teams come into this weekend in contrasting fortunes and it remains to be seen who walks out with the happier face.

Spurs lost 1-3 to Arsenal last weekend in the North London Derby, ending their unbeaten streak in the league this season whilst Zerbi’s team, in his first match in charge, shocked Liverpool with a 3-3 win.

There is not much to separate the two teams in terms of their place in the table either, with Conte’s men sitting third and the Seagulls sitting fourth, having accumulated three points less than Spurs until now.

However, Brighton have played one game fewer than the Lilywhites and a win today would see them go on par with the north London club. It will be a deserved start to the season for Brighton who have been mighty impressive.

Speaking ahead of the game, Zerbi has claimed that Tottenham under Conte are Premier League contenders this season.

“I think Tottenham are in the right condition to win the Premier League. It’s not easy, because there’s City, Liverpool, Chelsea, but in the transfer market they bought very good players and after one year to work with Antonio I think they’re able to win the Premier League”

Zerbi went on to highlight the way that Spurs have revitalised their squad and how they have a competitive edge about the way they go about games now. He thinks that Tottenham are a good team of 20-22 players which is what makes them contenders.

Spurs made a spree of signings, including Richarlison and Yves Bissouma, during the summer transfer window that massively improved the squad but ever since, the pressure on them has only increased manifolds as huge expectations have been placed on them.
