Transfer News: Arsenal laying the foundations to sign Evan Ndicka amid Tottenham Hotspur interest
Arch-rivals Arsenal are believed to be laying the foundations to secure the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Both sides have been interested in the 23-year-old due to his excellent performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.
Now, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs discussed the Frenchman’s future with Give Me Sport (h/t Football. London) and hinted at a possible move to the Emirates.
“Arsenal like the player. They’ve certainly done their legwork and their due diligence and their scouting on him. There’s a lot of interest in the player, not just from the Premier League but from all across Europe as well.”
Ndicka has been with the German club since 2018 after joining them from the French side AJ Auxerre. Since then, the centre-back has been a regular for the Bundesliga side.
The Frenchman has played in all 18 games so far for the club, starting in all of them. Spurs have been impressed with his performances against them in the Champions League this season.
Antonio Conte seems to prefer the trio of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies at the back. Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are down the pecking order and seem to have failed to provide tough competition to the preferred trio.
Signing an experienced defender like Ndicka not only helps in adding depth to the squad but will also help in increasing competition. Plus, the centre-back sees his current contract expire next summer.

If the defender does not sign a new contract, he could be available on a free transfer next summer and that could entice both the north London clubs. Fans will hope that their side can win the race for the centre-back so they can rub it on their rival’s face.
