Juventus set to offer Tottenham Hotspur target Weston McKennie in a swap deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Express), Juventus are set to offer Tottenham Hotspur target Weston McKennie in a swap deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to the north London club for some time, with sporting director Fabio Paratici known to be a fan of the USMNT international. However, it seems Spurs are set to miss out on the 24-year-old.
Juventus are looking to offer the midfielder for Martinez who has been enjoying a very good tournament with Argentina so far. The former Arsenal keeper was the star of the show as his heroics in the penalty shoot-out against The Netherlands secured his side’s place in the semi-finals.
Antonio Conte is believed to be looking to add reinforcements to his midfield. For long, the fans have felt the lack of attacking depth from the middle of the park.
Rodrigo Bentancur has stepped up at times, but the lack of additional attacking midfielders has often left forwards like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min alone up front.
McKennie could help solve this problem. The 25-year-old enjoyed a decent World Cup with the USMNT this year, helping them reach the Round of 16. For the Old Lady, the midfielder has been a regular playing in 16 games in all competitions and scoring three goals in the process.
But the Serie A side have other plans with the midfielder and this could hamper any potential move to north London for the midfielder. It remains to be seen if the Italian giants do offer the player in a swap deal.

Spurs on their part would be wise to keep track of the situation developing around the player. Should they get a window to make a move, it would make sense for the Lilywhites to make use of it.
