Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur will have to splash out around £26 million to land Pedro Porro

Tottenham Hotspur will have to splash out around £26 million to sign Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro during the January transfer window, according to A Bola (h/t Express).

A former Manchester City defender, the 23-year-old never managed to make a single appearance for the Cityzens. He moved to Portugal this summer after spending two-year loan at Sporting.

Antonio Conte is looking to bring in a new wing-back for his right side after having being left unconvinced by Emerson Royal so far this season. The Brazilian wing-back has been the go to for the north London side this season, featuring in 18 games so far in all competitions.

The manager also has Matt Doherty and Djed Spence as options to deploy on the right side, but is far from convinced with them. As such a new player is needed on the right and Porro has been identified as a potential target.

Porro has been a regular for the Portuguese club this season. The Spaniard has made 20 appearances so far in all competitions, recording eight assists in the process. He also impressed against Tottenham in both of their Champions League group-stage games.

The wing-back has been playing in a similar setup to Spurs at Sporting and has shown that he is a threat going forward, something that the club has been lacking so far this season from the right-hand side.

Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon have been fantastic on the left side for us so far and adding the 23-year-old on the right side could help balance the team. However, the Liga Portugal team might be reluctant to allow a regular player to leave mid-season.

With the winter transfer window fast approaching, it remains to be seen if Spurs make an offer for the wing-back. Should he join, he will be an upgrade over the players we currently have.
