Tottenham Hotspur’s Brazilian trio Emerson, Richarlison, and Lucas Moura trio pay tribute to Pele
The football world, including those affiliated with Tottenham Hotspur, mourn the sad demise of Brazilian football legend Pele at the age of 82.
His condition had worsened over the past month after his cancer spread. The three-time FIFA World Cup winner passed away on 29 December.
Tributes have poured in from all over the world for a man regarded by many as the greatest footballer to ever grace the football pitch. Those at Spurs have also chimed in with their heartfelt tributes, including our Brazilian trio.
Emerson Royal, the 23-year-old Brazilian right-back, took to Instagram and posted a photo of Pele celebrating with his Brazil teammates. He captioned it (Translated to English):
“You were and always will be the greatest!! The world is mourning 😥😥”
Richarlison, the 25-year-old Brazilian superstar who featured for the Selecao at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, posted a photo of Pele from his playing days and captioned it (Translated to English):
“Today football says goodbye to its most beautiful chapter. From the guy who charmed the world and changed the history of the game forever. You will always be the greatest, because 60 years ago, with all the hardships you faced, you did what very few can do today.
The guy who dedicated his thousandth goal to children and made our country discover that he could do much more. You are and will always be incomparable, King. You are eternal! Thank you and may God welcome you with open arms. 😢😢😢”
Lucas Moura, who has scored four times in 35 senior appearances for Brazil, captioned a photo of the Brazilian maestro (Translated to English):
“Football, the sport I love so much, wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you @pele, your legacy is eternal. May GOD comfort the heart of all the family members. 🖤”
This is a huge loss to the sport but the contribution to the sport and humanity as a whole is eternal. He would have had a huge impact on Lucas, Richarlison, and Emerson among other Spurs players when they were growing up.
