Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur linked with a move for former attacker Marcus Edwards
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola (h/t Team Talk), Tottenham Hotspur are linked with a sensational move for former and current Sporting Lisbon attacker Marcus Edwards.
The 24-year-old who is a Spurs academy graduate struggled to cement himself in the first-team during his time here and ultimately joined Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes for a free transfer in 2019.
Edwards then moved to Sporting in January 2022 and since then has seen his stock rise. The attacker who is primarily a right-winger has been crucial for the Portuguese side this season.
He has featured in 24 games for them in all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering another nine assists in the process. The 24-year-old was also very impressive against us during the Champions League group-stage games, especially their 2-0 win back in September.
Antonio Conte could do with an attacker like the 24-year-old. While Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son have been good for us with Richarlison also providing some tough competition, there is a lack of depth up-front.
Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura have failed to impress and recent injuries to Kulusevski and Richarlison only highlighted the lack of players to be deployed in the attack. As such, there is a need to add a versatile attacker and Edwards fits that bill perfectly.
The winger should also not have much problem in getting adjusted to the club as he has basically grown up here. However, with him being a crucial player for his side, it will be really surprising to see them entertain offers for him in January.

It remains to be seen if the north London side makes any approach for the winger in the coming days. Should he join, there is no doubt that he would make an instant upgrade to all the players Conte has on his bench.
