Tottenham Hotspur have offered Sporting CP the option to pick one out of three players plus cash for Pedro Porro
According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t the Express), Tottenham Hotspur have offered the choice of one player with guaranteed cash to Sporting CP for right-back Pedro Porro.
The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t the Express] have backed up the claim and believes that Spurs have offered Sporting to choose one player from three options provided.
The names given are Japhet Tanganga, Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal, with Antonio Conte keen to offload one of the more names to get his hands on Pedro Porro, who is also attracting interest from Chelsea.
None of these three players, at least for the fans, are crucial to our short-term plans. Gil has impressed in bits and pieces but Royal and Tanganga have left a lot to be wanted with their performances in recent months.
Porro is Conte’s primary target for the January transfer window with the Italian keen on the player after Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty failed to nail the starting position in the Spurs lineup truly.
It is important that Levy backs Conte in the ongoing window or risk losing out on UEFA Champions League, having already seen the team out of the top four currently.
Post World Cup, Spurs’s form has been abysmal and they have lost the last three games, signifying the need for a change in the team.
Especially the defeat to Manchester City would have frustrated Conte after having overseen a 2-0 advantage at half-time going down to 4-2 by the end of the game.
It described the confidence of the team’s defensive department, which is at an all-time low and needs to be improved drastically for us to have any chance of UEFA Champions League qualification.

Sporting, on the other hand, are reluctant to sell their prized asset for anything less than the player’s release clause which stands at £40m. It remains to be seen if Levy would be able to help his manager save a sinking ship and get him his primary target before the window closes on January 31st.
