Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will return to the touchline for AC Milan decider
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Evening Standard, Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini has revealed that Antonio Conte will return to London this weekend and take charge of the team from Sunday.
Conte will make his return to the touchline this week, following his recuperation from emergency gallbladder surgery on February 1. In his absence, Tottenham have had a very decent run.
His return is well-timed, with Tottenham facing a crucial Champions League last-16 decider against AC Milan on Wednesday. Conte’s return will be a massive boost for Tottenham, who will be looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg against Milan.
The Italian coach is a master of tactical nous, and his return will give Tottenham the tactical flexibility they need to overcome Milan’s stubborn defence. After all, Spurs need to take the game to the Italian giants.
Stellini has done a fine job in Conte’s absence, and his experience as an assistant coach has been invaluable. He has kept the team focused and motivated, and has instilled a sense of discipline and purpose that has been lacking in previous weeks.
Speaking about his coach’s return, here is what Stellini had to say about Conte will be back at the club.
“I said he would come back this week and straight after the match against Wolves he will be in London and in charge again from Sunday. The doctors decide this.”
Conte’s return will also be a massive boost for the players, who have missed his leadership and motivational skills. The Italian coach is known for his ability to inspire his players, and his return will give Tottenham the confidence they need to take on the best teams in Europe.
The Italian manager already made a return to the club for the Leicester game but was quickly told to get some rest by the doctors after it was advised that he should not be working so soon after such a huge operation.
