Cristian Stellini confirms Antonio Conte’s return date after Tottenham’s loss against Wolves
Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini has confirmed that head coach Antonio Conte will be back for their team’s next match after a shock 1-0 league loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday (4 March).
We were, in all honesty, awful against Wolves and we can’t complain that the result was totally unfair. Of course, it can’t be down to just Conte not being on the touchline.
Stellini has done a stellar job in his absence and led us to memorable wins, none more than against Manchester City last month. But perhaps we now need more passion and brains on the touchline.
With all due respect to Stellini, he is Conte’s assistant. The latter is the main man and is paid the big bucks to win games, which is what he would look to do once he returns.
According to Stellini, the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss will be back with the team today (5 March). He said in his post-match interview [h/t Football.London]:
“Antonio will be a massive boost for us from tomorrow until the end of the season. It is important that Antonio is back. We want to have him back with a different result but the team show to Antonio it is alive. They want to win, they want to control the game, they want to dominate the game and this is important I think.”
Conte has been sidelined for a few weeks after he underwent gallbladder surgery. Of course, his recovery has been the priority and we are glad to have him back again.
Pretty sure the players missed him as well, no matter how hard he goes on them in training. Our next game is one which can define our season a great deal. We face AC Milan in N17.
