Ian Wright explains why he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the top four
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Metro, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has explained why he thinks Tottenham Hotspur would finish in the top four ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Ian Wright’s prediction that Tottenham Hotspur will secure a place in the top four of the Premier League is a statement that will certainly bring comfort to Spurs fans across the globe, especially coming from an Arsenal legend.
With just one more spot realistically up for grabs, Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool are currently the favourites to secure it. However, Wright believes that it will be Tottenham who will emerge victorious, and the reason is simple: Harry Kane.
Kane has been the shining light for Tottenham throughout the season, scoring an impressive 20 goals in the Premier League so far. Despite the team’s inconsistent form of late, Wright is confident that the presence of the record goalscorer will be enough to secure a top-four finish.
With Kane’s scoring prowess and Tottenham’s ability to create chances, Wright believes that the team will continue to score goals and secure the points needed to cement their position in the top four.
While Tottenham’s form has been inconsistent, the same can be said of Newcastle and Liverpool. Newcastle has missed chances in crucial games, while Liverpool has struggled to maintain consistency this season.
Wright believes that teams facing Liverpool currently have an advantage, and any team can have a go at them. In contrast, Tottenham’s consistency in scoring goals is a significant factor that can help the team secure a top-four finish.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Wright had to say about Tottenham and the chances of qualifying for the top four.
“I think Tottenham are going to be okay simply because they have got Harry Kane. He’s going to score goals. You look at Newcastle. They are missing chances. Yes, they scored a couple [against Wolves last Sunday] and it was good for them, but they will have to do that with their two games in a hand. They have to score goals”
