35-year-old manager ‘open’ to conducting Tottenham Hotspur talks

Julian Nagelsmann could be open to a switch to Tottenham Hotspur having shown admiration for the club before

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur could try to initiate talks with Julian Nagelsmann, who has recently been relieved of his duties at FC Bayern Munich. The manager is himself open to such a proposition.

The 35-year-old had been doing very well with Bayern Munich, having led them to the German Super Cup whilst being just one point off the top in the Bundesliga.

His unbeaten UEFA Champions League record was also something to be talked about and although the next opponents are Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the quarter-finals, no one, including Nagelsmann saw the sack coming.

It was a surprise and rather short-sighted decision taken by the Bayern management to get rid of a young talented manager in Nagelsmann and get Thomas Tuchel on board on a short contract.

As they say, one team’s loss is another’s gain and out of nowhere, a miraculous opportunity has been presented to Daniel Levy to bring in a manager who could lead the team to the top given a long-term project.

Levy had previously tried to get hold of Nagelsmann when they wanted the German to replace Mauricio Pochettino and even after the sacking of Jose Mourinho in 2021.

Both times the moves did not materialise but the third time could work as a charm and there is a possibility that Nagelsmann could show interest in taking over the Spur’s hot seat.

There have been multiple previous occasions where the manager has shown affinity to Spurs and has admitted in an interview in 2019 to watching the team as a spectator.

“He (Mauricio Pochettino) is a really good manager and his team was great to look at as a spectator”

The availability of a young top class modern manager in Nagelsmann added to the current issues at hand with Antonio Conte makes it really simple for what the board must do.

The players have lost confidence in Conte and it seems that Conte is also not keen to continue at the club. Hence, separation is the best possible outcome.

With the most important part of the season coming up, keeping Conte could potentially ruin our top-four hopes and if there is a chance that Nagelsmann could be appointed mid-season, there is no way we should turn down that opportunity.
