Report: Julian Naglesmann once owned a Tottenham Hotspur shirt due to fondness for club
A report by the Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Mirror] claims that Julian Nagelsmann once owned a Tottenham Hotspur shirt due to fondness for the club.
Not much detail is mentioned about this but it apparently dates back to the time Mauricio Pochettino was in charge of the club. The Argentine manager was sacked by the club in 2019 and was replaced by Jose Mourinho.
Spurs apparently looked at Nagelsmann when they wanted to sign a replacement for Mourinho in 2021, who was sacked in April. As things have turned out since then, the German tactician is once again linked with the Tottenham job.
This time, it could be as a replacement for manager Antonio Conte. The Italian boss could leave Spurs soon after an unhinged rant following his team’s 3-3 Premier League draw against Southampton last weekend.
Nagelsmann to Spurs?
Nagelsmann, meanwhile, was surprisingly sacked by Bayern Munich recently and replaced with free agent Thomas Tuchel, who was also on Spurs’ radar. This works out well for us.
Nagelsmann is a young coach who has a lot of experience with teams such as RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and TSG Hoffenheim 1899. His team have been known to play attractive, attacking football.
Moreover, he has worked wonders with clubs that had limited resources. Spurs, at least that’s what our fans will tell you, aren’t really the most active or ambitious team in the transfer market under Daniel Levy.

Let’s just not jump the gun and properly assess all the options at the table. It’s always less headache to go after free agents as then we won’t have to deal with the clubs that employ them. But we can’t make any compromises anymore as the next manager, if Conte leaves, will be crucial to how the club’s modern history is shaped in the coming years.
