Eric Dier says Son is not the reason Conte left Tottenham Hotspur
Eric Dier has broken his silence on Antonio Conte’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking to Sky Sports, the centre-back shared his thoughts on the matter, while also disputing claims made by his teammate, Heung-Min Son.
Conte’s tenure at Tottenham came to an end recently. Son had previously suggested that he was partly to blame for Conte’s exit, stating that his poor form on the pitch had contributed to the team’s overall struggles.
The South Korean has not been at his best for Spurs this season, with his performances leaving a lot to be desired. Son, who usually is one of the club’s most consistent players has had a rough time.
Speaking about the situation, his teammate Eric Dier has claimed that it is not Son’s mistake that Conte left.
“For me, every time a manager leaves, it leaves a bad feeling personally every time it happens. I don’t agree with Sonny, I don’t think it’s his responsibility, I think it’s all of our responsibility, I would wish him all the best for the future and thank him”
Dier’s comments reflect a broader truth about Conte’s departure from Tottenham. While it’s true that Son’s form was not up to his usual high standards, there were many other factors that contributed to the team’s overall struggles.
Conte himself had made headlines for his explosive press conference and his general foul mood, which had led to speculation about his future at the club. He did not get the team playing that well either.
Ultimately, though, the blame for Conte’s departure must be shared by the entire team. Tottenham has struggled for consistency throughout the season, with key players like Son also failing to perform at their usual levels.
Dier’s comments also reflect the respect that many of Tottenham’s players had for Conte, despite the difficulties they faced under his leadership. The Italian may have been a demanding manager, but he was also widely seen as a good man who genuinely cared about his players.
