Fabrizio Romano names favourite for Tottenham managerial job

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has named the favourite to take over as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur with Julien Nagelsmann being the first name on the list.

Nagelsmann is a highly-rated coach who has worked wonders with RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. He was in charge of Bayern Munich, but his tenure with the German giants was cut short.

He has emerged as the main option for Tottenham who are looking to appoint a new manager to take the club forward. If Spurs are unable to secure Nagelsmann’s services, then they will reportedly turn their attention towards Luis Enrique, the former Spain national team manager.

Romano believes that Nagelsmann is the frontrunner for the Spurs job, but Enrique is not far behind. Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, he said

“Luis Enrique and Nagelsmann are the two frontrunners at the moment, Nagelsmann is the favourite, Enrique is in second place from what I understand. Nagelsmann is keen on speaking with Chelsea in the next days and weeks”

Spurs are currently without a permanent manager, and Cristian Stellini has been appointed as the interim boss. So far, the team has recorded one win and one draw in the two games he has been in charge.

However, Newcastle and Manchester United are currently ahead of Spurs in the table, with a game in hand. Spurs cannot afford to drop any more points if they hope to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive.

This makes the appointment of a new manager all the more crucial, as the right appointment could provide the spark the team needs to push on towards success. However, it looks like Tottenham will wait until the summer.

It remains to be seen who Spurs will ultimately appoint as their next manager. They are making all the right noises with the names that they are being linked to. Only time will tell who they go for.
