Harry Kane outlines what Ryan Mason did at half-time in Tottenham vs Liverpool
Speaking to the Tottenham media team after the game against Liverpool, Harry Kane outlines what Ryan Mason did at half-time which impressed him a lot.
Tottenham Hotspur may have lost 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield, but the team managed to showcase some excellent resilience and fighting spirit. This performance would have inspired Ryan Mason on what his team is capable of.
After a shaky start where they conceded three goals in just 20 minutes, Spurs pulled one back before half-time through Harry Kane. They went on to score two more goals through Son Heung-Min and Richarlison.
The England captain then revealed what interim manager Ryan Mason did at half-time to get the club back into the game. He was impressed with the way the coach adapted to the situation and got the best out of the team.
In a post-match interview, Kane revealed that Mason showed great patience and calmness during the half-time break, despite the team being 3-1 down. Rather than getting carried away and trying to win the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half, Mason reminded the team of their strengths and encouraged them to keep plugging away.
Here is what Kane had to say about the way the interim manager handled the situation in the dressing room
“The boss showed great patience in terms of talking to us and even at half-time not to get carried away and try to win the game in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
“We knew we were going to get chances. If we just kept plucking at it and if we kept the clean sheet, that’s what we spoke about at half-time, then we would get something out of the game. We were so close to being right. So, credit to him.”
Mason’s approach paid off as Spurs managed to equalise in the dying minutes of the game, with a brilliant strike from Sergio Reguilon. However, the team conceded in the 94th minute, and the game ended in a disappointing loss.
Despite the defeat, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. Spurs showed great character and resilience to come back from 3-0 down, and they could have easily taken a point from the game if not for the late Liverpool winner.
