Juventus and AS Roma on red alert as Tottenham Hotspur consider terminating Tanguy Ndombele’s contract
It seems that every summer transfer window brings with it a headache for Tottenham Hotspur to sort out Tanguy Ndombele’s future.
The France international joined Spurs in July 2019 for a then club-record fee of 63million Euros. Jose Mourinho became Tottenham’s manager in November and used him 57 times until being sacked in April 2021.
He has only ever played more games for Bruno Genesio. It shows that the Portuguese tactician saw something in Ndombele. His first loan move away from N17 was sanctioned only after Mou’s departure – when he joined Olympique Lyonnais on loan in January 2022.
We shipped him to Napoli last summer on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for 30million Euros. Gli Azzurri, as per Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, do not want to exercise that clause.
Good riddance
Spurs, for their part, are considering giving up on the player completely and getting him off their wage books by terminating his contract. A severance package could be involved in such a scenario, with Ndombele’s deal expiring only in the summer of 2025.
Mourinho is seemingly eyeing a reunion with the Frenchman. AS Roma and Juventus are believed to be keeping an eye on the situation.
This season, Ndombele hasn’t played a lot for Napoli, who are destined to win the Scudetto. His 39 appearances across competitions have amounted to just 1197 minutes.
But at least he has shown that he can play at the top level in some capacity. Signing the 26-year-old on a free transfer would be a low-risk, high-reward situation for AS Roma and Juventus, especially if they get him in on modest wages.

Given his underwhelming displays and lack of consistency in recent years, that could be a real possibility. For Spurs, it will be a total loss on a massive figure they paid to Lyon all those years back. What a waste.
