Man United are wary of getting drawn into a protracted saga for Tottenham ace Harry Kane
According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are wary of getting drawn into a protracted long drawn saga for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Kane is in top form this season, having scored 27 goals in all competitions for Spurs. Nevertheless, the club has had its share of struggles both on and off the field. Tottenham is at risk of missing out on Champions League football for next season.
Kane is known to be keen to add more trophies to his impressive career, but with no word on a new permanent manager at Spurs and little sign of a clear direction from above, the likelihood of that happening here seems to be fading quickly.
Manchester United has been linked with Kane repeatedly, and it is believed that the club is hopeful of securing an £80 million move for the 29-year-old this year. Manchester United is looking for a top striker to lead their line, and Kane is seen as the answer to that.
However, the club is wary of being drawn into prolonged negotiations with Tottenham over Kane’s transfer. Manchester United is keen to acquire a “pedigree centre forward” this summer, and the club is said to be “continuing to explore” the possibility of a big-money move for Kane.
Tottenham are reportedly seeking £100 million for their star striker despite the shortening length of his contract. Manchester United’s reluctance to engage in prolonged negotiations with Tottenham over Kane’s transfer could mean that the Red Devils may turn their attention elsewhere.
However, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to find someone who can match Kane’s skills and goal-scoring abilities. His experience in the Premier League is also worth its weight in gold.
For Tottenham, losing Kane would be a massive blow to their squad. The Englishman has been the club’s top scorer for several seasons now and has been instrumental in their success. However, the club has not done enough for him in return.
