Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a deal for relegated Leeds United defender Robin Koch
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently eyeing a move for relegated Leeds United centre-back Robin Koch.
The Whites have been relegated to the Championship and lost 4-1 at Elland Road against Tottenham Hotspur on gameweek 38. Koch featured in the game, which could be his last for the Yorkshire-based club.
According to Football Insider, via Leeds-Live, Spurs are eyeing a ‘cut-price’ move for the 26-year-old defender. They plan on sealing a deal for around 15million Pounds.
It remains to be seen if Leeds will be happy with that price tag. But with just a year remaining on Koch’s contract and the club now in the Championship, it seems that the cards aren’t really in Leeds’ hands regarding Koch’s future.
What should Spurs do?
Koch, 26, has played for Leeds United since signing for them in the summer of 2020 from SV Freiburg. In that time, he has shown that he can adjust well to English football.
Granted he was part of a relegated team this season, but Koch has the ability to play for a Premier League team’s defence on a regular basis. He has even played as a central defensive midfielder before, just like Eric Dier during his time at Sporting CP and early Spurs years.
Hence, he has that knowledge of playing the ball out of defence, being safe in possession, and reading the danger beforehand. He wouldn’t have earned eight caps for Germany if he wasn’t a good player.

In this regard, it is a boost for us that Leeds have been relegated. A move to Spurs would be a huge step up for him and he could provide much-needed competition in central defence, with Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga failing to impress in recent seasons.
