Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi a target for several teams amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur will face competition from teams around Europe to acquire the services of Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, according to The Sun.
Ange Postecoglou was recently appointed the new Spurs manager after his departure from the Glasgow-based club. The Australian head coach is expected to make a move for his former forward ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The Japan international is a target for the gaffer, who wants to reunite with his former player. However, the North London side will have to battle a number of top sides in order to get a hold of the 28-year-old’s signature.
Furuhashi has expressed his desire in the past to play in the Bundesliga. Serie A outfit Lazio are also eyeing him – they are a team who can offer him guaranteed minutes given Ciro Immobile is 33 and has no natural No. 9 to compete with him. Clubs in Spain and France are also monitoring the Japanese.
Celtic signed the forward in the summer of 2021 from Vissel Kobe. In the previous campaign, injuries hampered his spell. However, the 28-year-old showcased his quality in the 2022/23 term.
This season, Furuhashi made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership outfit. The Japanese found the back of the net 34 times and provided five assists playing as a centre-forward.
Postecoglou has an abundance of talent in the attack at Tottenham. However, Harry Kane was the only reliable outlet for the North London side in the current campaign. The Australian could lose the English skipper to Real Madrid this summer.
Spurs also have Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevksi and Richarlison in their ranks as things stand. However, none of them was able to contribute significantly up front this season.
