Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire ‘attracting interest’ from Tottenham Hotspur
Harry Maguire, who plays for Premier League rivals Manchester United, is ‘attracting interest’ from Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required).
While the England international is on Spurs’ radar, they are yet to make a concrete approach for him. It is not guaranteed that the North London side will actually end up putting in a bid for the defender.
Ange Postecoglou has taken charge of Tottenham. Spurs are now looking for a sporting director and will start planning for the upcoming transfer window.
The Australian head coach’s arrival is expected to lead to a massive clearout from the squad next summer. Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet, Ben Davis and Davinson Sanchez could part ways with the North London side in the coming weeks.
Celtic’s former manager will be consulted regarding the Lilywhites’ recruitment. The same goes for a move for Maguire, who could be available for a cut-price fee.
United signed the England international in the summer of 2019 from Leicester City. However, since last season, the centre-back seems to have lost his confidence and has made several errors.
With the arrival of Erik ten Hag, the 30-year-old has lost his place in the Red Devils’ starting lineup. Yet, Gareth Southgate still seems to have faith in the defender and he has not let the Three Lions down.
Tottenham were shaky defensively in the current campaign. We struggled to keep clean sheets and were leaky at the back. The North London side had a hard time holding onto leads.

None of our defenders have been consistent enough over the last few months. Also, with the club open to parting ways with some of our centre-backs, we will evidently need reinforcements. But is Maguire the answer to our problems? His performances for United would not suggest that.
