Matt Law expects Tottenham Hotspur to let club icon leave on a free transfer

Matt Law expects Tottenham to let Lloris leave on a free transfer

Speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel, Matt Law has claimed that he thinks Daniel Levy will let club captain Hugo Lloris leave Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the summer.

Lloris, who has been an integral part of the Spurs squad for an impressive eleven years, seems set to bid farewell to North London. The Tottenham captain himself confirmed his desire for a new challenge.

The recent arrival of manager Ange Postecoglou has potentially accelerated Lloris’ departure. Postecoglou’s system places emphasis on a goalkeeper’s ability to excel with the ball at their feet, an area where the Frenchman has shown limitations.

This factor has inevitably fueled the rumours linking Tottenham with other shot-stopping options such as David Raya and Jordan Pickford, intensifying the speculation surrounding Lloris’ potential exit.

Matt Law, a reliable source when it comes to Tottenham news, predicts that the club will facilitate Lloris’ departure.

“I wrote a few weeks ago that he had decided that he wanted to go and he’s confirmed it. I can’t see any way in which Tottenham will stand in his way or stop it. I would expect them to let him go on a free transfer or some sort of nominal fee, just to maybe cover an FFP side of things for a nominal fee. I think they will make it easy for him”

While it may seem perplexing to allow such an experienced and reliable goalkeeper to leave for nothing, there are several factors that might contribute to this decision. Firstly, the desire for a fresh challenge from Hugo Lloris himself cannot be ignored.

After dedicating over a decade to Tottenham, it’s only fair that the club respects his wishes and allows him to explore new horizons. Furthermore, Tottenham may see this as an opportunity to streamline their wage bill and potentially allocate resources towards other areas of the squad that require reinforcement.

Ultimately, while it may be disheartening for Spurs fans to bid farewell to their beloved captain, it is essential to remember the remarkable service Lloris has provided throughout his tenure.
