Victor Nelsson urges Galatasaray to let him leave amidst Tottenham bid
According to Turkish outlet Hurriyet, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Galatasaray’s talented defender, Victor Nelsson, this summer, as they look to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old Danish centre-back has emerged as a prime target for the North London club, with Spurs reportedly tabling a bid of €22 million to secure his services. However, negotiations have hit a stumbling block as Galatasaray holds out for a fee in the region of €25 million for their prized defender.
Victor Nelsson, on the other hand, is eager for a new challenge and has made his desires clear, urging his current club to grant him the opportunity to ply his trade in the highly competitive Premier League.
Having fulfilled his commitment to Galatasaray by not pushing for a move during the previous transfer window, Nelsson recently held talks with the club’s management to remind them of their promise.
In the meeting, the Danish international reiterated his patience and loyalty, emphasizing that he now wishes to pursue a move to England or Spain, fulfilling his ambitions of playing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Nelsson had to say about his future
“I did my part and didn’t leave at the beginning of the season. You promised me back then. Now I want to go to England or Spain. Please accept the offer that will make Galatasaray profit.”
For Tottenham, it is no secret that defensive reinforcements are desperately needed. A reliable partner for the exceptional Cristian Romero, who has been a stalwart at the heart of Spurs’ defence, is imperative for the club’s resurgence.
While Romero has been a consistent presence, the same cannot be said for Tottenham’s overall defensive performances. The team must address this glaring weakness if they are to regain their place among the Premier League’s elite and compete for silverware once again.
