Toure recently bid farewell to his coaching role at Tottenham, as he embarked on a new adventure as the assistant manager of Belgian side Standard Liege. In an interview with the PA news agency, the Ivorian football legend spoke highly of his time at Tottenham.

Grateful for the opportunity he was given, Yaya Toure praised the support and guidance he received from the North London club, acknowledging that he could never truly repay them for their generosity.

Having joined Tottenham last season to work on his coaching badges, Toure quickly made an impression and was eventually appointed as an academy coach. Prior to his time at Tottenham, he gained valuable coaching experience at Ukrainian outfit Olimpik Donetsk and Russian team Akhmat Grozny.

Reflecting on his experience, Toure conveyed his willingness to return to Tottenham if the opportunity ever presented itself. He spoke of the incredible support and development opportunities he was afforded, emphasizing that Tottenham played an indispensable role in his growth as a coach.

“If the opportunity to go back was there, then why not? Because what Tottenham did for me was incredible, they allowed me to work there and develop as a coach, and for what they did for me I will never be able to thank them enough”

The Ivorian midfielder’s illustrious career includes a highly successful stint at Manchester City, where he made over 300 appearances, scoring 79 goals and providing 49 assists. Toure played a crucial role in City’s triumphs, securing three Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup, and the Community Shield.
