Tottenham Hotspur outcast Davinson Sanchez closing in on Real Betis move

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Spanish side Real Betis have emerged as the favourites to sign Tottenham outcast Davinson Sanchez this summer.

Discussions between Real Betis and Tottenham are well underway, and a final decision on the matter is expected to be reached within the next week. While the proposed fee for the transfer hovers around €7 million, some may argue that this figure falls short of Tottenham’s desires.

Nevertheless, the club might be willing to entertain the offer, given Davinson Sanchez‘s contract is set to expire next summer, potentially paving the way for him to leave on a free transfer. It also has to do with where the player wants to move.

It is no secret that Tottenham is actively on the lookout for defensive reinforcements. Manager Ange Postecoglou, committed to an attacking style of play, understands that fortifying the backline is essential to supporting the team’s forward momentum.

Sanchez’s arrival at Tottenham back in 2017 was met with much fanfare. His potential and youthful promise were undeniable, with many expecting him to blossom into one of Europe’s premier defenders.

However, Sanchez’s tenure at Spurs has been far from steady, and he has struggled to cement himself as a regular first-team player. Inconsistent performances and the challenge of breaking into the starting XI have dampened the once-promising outlook.

A move away from the London outfit could very well serve as the much-needed catalyst for Sanchez to breathe new life into his career and rediscover the form that garnered such acclaim in the past.

While parting ways with any player can evoke a sense of sentimentality, it is evident that leaving Tottenham might be the most prudent decision for the Colombian international to reinvigorate his footballing journey.
