Juventus looking to swap Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic for Chelsea ace Romelu Lukaku
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Juventus and Chelsea have begun talks to execute a swap deal that would see Dusan Vlahovic move to London and Romelu Lukaku move the other way.
However, Chelsea are not the only club in London who want to sign the Serbian striker with Tottenham Hotspur also keen on a move for him. Thus, the North London club will want to keep a keen eye on the developments.
It is increasingly looking like Harry Kane’s exit from the club is sealed and it is only a matter of time before it actually happens. Thus, Tottenham will be in the market for a high-profile number nine and Vlahovic fits the bill.
However, Tottenham cannot move for the Juventus striker until Kane’s exit is formalized and Chelsea and Juventus have already started talks. The Blues however are still not really convinced about Vlahovic.
Romano says that the Blues are set to internally discuss the option of signing Vlahovic as a number nine in exchange for Romelu Lukaku. If Mauricio Pochettino deems fit, Chelsea might push for this deal to happen.
From a Tottenham perspective, will Vlahovic suit the club? To be very honest, the feeling are mixed. Is he a good striker? Yes! However, would the Serbian suit Ange Postecoglou’s team? I am afraid not.
Until the dotted line is signed on, Tottenham will keep trying to make Harry Kane stay. However, it will be difficult to convince a player whose heart seems to be elsewhere and Thomas Tuchel is not going to back down.
If Kane leaves and Dusan Vlahovic has already made the move to Chelsea, Tottenham will have to look at other options. Even if the Serbian is available, we would be better off focussing our efforts elsewhere.
