Montpellier president confirms Tottenham are interested in Elye Wahi
In an interview with RMC Sport, Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a potential move for their young striker, Elye Wahi.
Spurs are not the only club interested in signing the 20-year-old forward. Chelsea are also keen on signing the talented striker but the French club are holding out for a significant fee. Until now, no club has managed to actually reach a breakthrough.
Elye Wahi is an extremely talented striker. His performances in Ligue 1 have really caught the eye of Europe’s elite. It comes as absolutely no surprise that Tottenham want to sign him but he will not come cheap.
Right now, Tottenham have two options to play in the striker role. One is obviously Harry Kane, the face of the club and the player who has been carrying this team on his back single-handedly for way too long.
The other one is Richarlison who signed for the club last summer from Everton. However, his first season at Tottenham could not have turned out any worse. It can only look upward for the talented Brazilian from here.
Speaking about Elye Wahi’s situation at Montpellier, here is what their president had to say about interest in him
“There are offers for Wahi, we are waiting for more. We had an offer from Chelsea a week ago. We thanked them, but we refused. We wait. I’ve had Tottenham who are interested, and they should move soon”
Harry Kane’s future at the club is not certain. This is probably where the talented French striker comes in. If the English superstar is to leave the club this summer, then maybe the club can move for Wahi.
We must remember one thing with Wahi. He is not the finished article. He is nowhere close to being the finished article and he will be a work in progress. If we sign him, we must give him time to develop.
