Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Porto striker Mehdi Taremi
According to renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in signing talented Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.
Tottenham are linked continuously to many striker options in recent weeks and all this had to do with the uncertain future of Harry Kane. The English striker is continually linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
However, it does look like Kane’s transfer saga is coming to an end soon – one way or the other. Bayern Munich have supposedly submitted a ‘take it or leave it’ offer which if Tottenham do not accept, the German club will not return.
If Kane stays, we can wrap up all the search and try and focus on the new season ahead. However, if the Englishman leaves, it becomes all the more important for Tottenham to find the correct striker.
Let’s be honest here – it is not going to be easy to replace Kane. In fact, an argument can be made that not anyone we sign could actually replace the Englishman in every facet of his game and Tottenham would struggle one way or the other.
However, what we need to do is to find a striker who can score goals but also fit Ange Postecoglou’s tactical set-up. In that case, he needs to be good on the ball and also in link-up play.
The latest name doing the rounds is Mehdi Taremi. The talented Porto forward had an impressive season with the Portuguese club scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists in 33 league appearances last season.
Taremi might not exactly be able to replicate everything that Kane does but he is a well-rounded option who can really help Tottenham if the Englishman leaves. At 31, he will not really represent a young option though.

Ideally, Tottenham still want Kane to stay. However, if he leaves, the club must look at a younger option. Taremi can be a backup if we fail to land a first-choice striker.
