Brentford striker Ivan Toney deal being explored by Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a deal for Ivan Toney, who plays for Premier League rivals Brentford, in the ongoing transfer window.
Spurs have lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich this summer. The England international joined the Bundesliga giants just before the start of our 2023/24 term. Therefore, we could evidently do with additional reinforcements up front.
To that end, speaking to GIVEMESPORT, transfer expert Dean Jones revealed that Tottenham are thinking about a move for Toney. However, he feels the Bees will not make it easy to get a hold of the striker’s signature.
“Toney is a deal that they have started to explore, but that will come down to how realistic Brentford are in terms of what his value is. It seems they might price him out of a move like this.”
Brentford signed the England international in the summer of 2020 from Peterborough United. Since then, the 27-year-old has been the West London club’s talisman.
The Bees have heavily relied on Toney to find the back of the net over the years. In the previous campaign, the striker scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances.
However, the forward picked up a ban at the end of last month. As a result, the English national is unavailable for selection until January. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will make a move for him.
With the departure of Kane, the North London side have lost a guaranteed goalscorer. The 30-year-old had been our main man up front for several years.
In the opening two games of the season, Richarlison has been leading the line for Spurs. The Brazil international has cut a frustrating figure in the number nine position. Even in the resounding win over Manchester United on 19 August at home, the former Everton star was unable to do much.

Toney has proven himself in the English top flight. However, the striker’s unavailability for the next few months is a sticking point. Thus, it would make sense to pursue the English national in the winter transfer window.
