Eric Dier believes his best yet to come at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier believes and is certain that his best years in the North London side’s shirt are yet to come.
The 29-year-old is one of the senior-most squad members at the Lilywhites right now. Over the years, the centre-back has been a key player for us. However, inconsistencies have marred the England international’s performances.
But speaking to the media via football.london, Dier expressed confidence at bigger and better things from him at Spurs in the coming future. The defender is adamant that he will enter his prime years soon.
“I’m 29! I genuinely believe my best years are ahead of me. I don’t just believe, I know that.”
Tottenham signed the English national in the summer of 2014 from Sporting CP. The versatile defender has been deployed in various positions by the several managers we have had in recent years.
Mauricio Pochettino started Dier at right-back initially. Subsequently, he was moved to central defence before being played as a number six.
Subsequently, in recent seasons, the English national has found himself in and out of the team. However, Antonio Conte trusted the defender to play regularly in a back-three.
But Dier has found himself out of the last two matchday squads under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager has preferred the partnership of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the backline.
Davinson Sanchez has also seen game time under the new gaffer. The Colombian came off the bench against Brentford as well as Manchester United. At the moment, the depth in our defence seems to be lacking quality and quantity.

Dier is one of the more experienced heads in the team. Therefore, we could still use the English national. Also, Romero has faced constant fitness issues at Spurs. Hopefully, the former Sporting CP star will showcase his best when the gaffer calls upon him.
