AS Monaco ‘pushing’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham

Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco are ‘pushing’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The French side have re-entered talks with the Cottagers to acquire the services of their centre-back in the ongoing transfer window. As things stand, discussions are ongoing between the two clubs.

At the moment, Monaco are first looking to get a hold of Folarin Balogun’s signature from Arsenal. Then, the Red and Whites hope to complete the signing of the English defender as well.

However, Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Adarabioyo. The North London side are one of the teams who have been pursuing the 25-year-old, as per French outlet Foot Mercato.

The centre-back made his way through the youth ranks at Manchester City. However, after being unable to get regular opportunities at the Sky Blues, the English national opted to join Fulham on a permanent basis.

Since then, Adarabioyo has been a key player for the Craven Cottage side. In the previous campaign, the defender was pivotal to Marco Silva’s plans, starting in 23 league matches.

At Tottenham, the pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven has instilled confidence in our backline. The Argentine and the Holland national have formed an impressive duo under Ange Postecoglou.

However, the North London side seemingly lack strength in depth in defence. Davinson Sanchez has been the Australian manager’s option on the bench for the centre-back positions. We also have Eric Dier at our disposal for now. But both of them have been inconsistent over the years.

Therefore, Spurs could evidently do with additional reinforcements in the coming days. However, it remains to be seen whether Monaco will be able to pip the Lilywhites to Adarabioyo.
