Japhet Tanganga might have played his last game for Tottenham Hotspur

According to Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold, on-loan defender Japhet Tanganga might have already played his last game for the North London club.

Tanganga is out on loan at Augsburg for the season. The English defender did not seem to have a future under Ange Postecoglou and was understandably shipped out before the transfer window came to a close.

It has now been revealed by Gold that the player has certain clauses in his loan contract stating that he would be transferred permanently to the German club. It clearly shows what the future holds for him.

Tanganga might have already played his last game in a Tottenham shirt. As long as Postecoglou is the manager at the North London club, it seems unlikely that he will bet on the Englishman.

It is a rather sorry state of affairs for a player who broke out to much fanfare under Jose Mourinho and was widely expected to be the one to lead the club’s central defence in seasons to come.

The epitome of versatility, the Englishman is capable of playing in multiple roles in defence. Although naturally a centre-back, Tanganga is equally adept at playing as a right-back as he has showcased before.

Speaking about his situation, here is what Alasdair Gold had to say about the player’s future

“Japhet Tanganga, he hasn’t played yet for Augsburg. If you weren’t aware, his loan is a loan with an option to buy that becomes an obligation if certain criteria are met. I have a feeling one of those maybe if they stay up in the Bundesliga, but a good move for him”

A huge season awaits Tanganga. He might be yet to play for Augsburg but once he starts playing, he must make sure he puts the right foot forward and impress at his temporary base at every given opportunity.
