“They both want each other”- Pundit lavishes praise on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou

Australian manager Ange Postecoglou has the blueprint to succeed at Tottenham Hotspur

According to former Crystal Palace owner Sion Jordan for the Daily Mail, Ange Postecoglou has already succeeded in convincing a major portion of Tottenham Hotspur supporters to believe in his vision in just a few months of his tenure.

This current perception of the former Celtic boss as the Spurs’ head coach is a very different response from the initial scepticism that many felt when they learned he was set to take over from Antonio Conte, given that the two coaches seemed to have entirely different approaches.

Jordan wrote:

“Postecoglou has brought a different feel to Spurs. He wants to manage Tottenham Hotspur. He sees this as a big opportunity to be successful, not a big opportunity for him to get paid well or use the club as a stepping stone or to do people a favour. This is a challenge he wants and sees the value in and makes this relationship between manager and club balanced and equitable — they both want each other.”

Postecoglou has consistently aimed to imprint his distinctive style on any club he’s managed, and his aggressive, attacking brand of football aligns seamlessly with Tottenham’s goal of rediscovering their ‘identity.’

While the Australian manager, who lacked Premier League experience, wasn’t the top choice for the North London fans after Conte’s departure, their club has experienced a swift and remarkable transformation in on-field performances.

Under Conte and Jose Mourinho, the Tottenham Hotspur stadium had become a somewhat gloomy place due to their defensive tactics and inconsistent results. However, the stadium was once again filled with energy on Saturday night against Sheffield United, similar to the atmosphere during their victory over Manchester United a month ago.

Against the Blades, Spurs managed to stage a dramatic comeback, securing all three points and climbing to second place in the table with their fourth consecutive win.

Richarlison, who had recently faced some personal issues, was all smiles after scoring the equaliser in the 98th minute and then assisting Dejan Kulusevski for the winning goal.

Bringing in pragmatic managers in the pursuit of winning trophies hasn’t yielded success for Spurs. However, observing Mauricio Pochettino’s team, despite their lack of silverware, was an absolute delight.

Postecoglou has the potential to recreate that same excitement within the club, and there’s a genuine chance for Spurs to challenge the top teams, much like Arsenal’s attempt to compete with Manchester City.

While it was enjoyable to witness Arsenal’s title hopes crumble last season, Mikel Arteta has assembled a talented squad that seems ready to compete in various competitions regularly.

They endured turbulent seasons before, but the board’s trust in Arteta has paid off. Levy should follow a similar path of patience and faith with Postecoglou.

The club appears to be fully aware of its long-term objectives and is actively supporting the 58-year-old in his quest to achieve success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Recent signings like Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon, and Brennan Johnson reflect the type of squad that Postecoglou is aiming to build.

Even with players like James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, both 26 years old, it’s evident that they are either at the peak of their abilities or approaching it.

The trust placed in Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr to take on significant first-team roles and their successful performances under pressure prove this point.

The Spurs have the opportunity to create something exceptional. The Australian manager’s emphasis on long-term strategies for success as opposed to quick fixes shows that the English giants have the ideal leader.

With proper support, he has the potential to guide the club to the end of their trophy drought.
