Tottenham Hotspur confirm new contract for Pele Arganese-McDermott
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that teenage centre-back Pele Arganese-McDermott has signed a new contract with the club.
According to the club’s official website, he has penned a deal that expires in the summer of 2026. Arganese-McDermott is a Marbella-born Spanish centre-back who joined our youth ranks from Luton Town in February 2021.
He has yet to make a senior appearance for the club since then and has mustered just 28 minutes across two games in the U18 Premier League this season. The teenager penned his first pro contract with the club in September last year.
Much isn’t known about the youngster because he hasn’t played regularly for the first team but the new deal shows Spurs’ confidence in the young man. It only promises good things in the future.
One for the future
Arganese-McDermott can rest assured that he can get a shot at first-team football if he keeps performing at the youth levels. His height is already one of his strong points and if he has a physique to match it, then he can be a real asset for the club at centre-back.
Of course, the level of youth and senior football in the Premier League is drastically different. So, it won’t be a bad idea to loan him out in the summer or even next year to help him gain experience.
Arganese-McDermott can also play in several other utility roles, which is common for young players who may still be discovering their best positions on the pitch. A straight path to the first team could be tough.

But he could be helped by Eric Dier’s potential exit in 2024 as his contract is in its last few months. Of course, that is still a big ask from a youngster, so don’t be surprised if you see the Spaniard wearing another team’s colours in the coming years on a temporary basis.
