In 11 appearances across all competitions this season, the 24-year-old Spaniard has two assists and 11 top-quality performances bar a few moments of “brain-fade”. Under Postecoglou’s guidance, Porro has not only found his footing but excelled as a right-back in the system.
The doubts surrounding his ability to adapt to an inverted full-back role were dispelled as he certainly showcased a higher standard of performance. It has become evident that proper coaching has played a crucial role in Porro’s evolution.
As Eccelshare rightly says, if there were an award for the player who has most benefited from coaching or has exceeded expectations, Pedro Porro would undoubtedly be a strong contender.
